The Peavy Arboretum Trail area includes many short trails that are ideal for the casual stroll or a family learning opportunity. The Arboretum has ample parking, several benches and picnic tables, and plant identification markers. A map of Peavy Arboretum and species identification information can be found at: http://cf.forestry.oregonstate.edu/peavy-arboretum. Groups interested in obtaining a guided tour of the Arboretum should contact OSU College Forests staff.
At just over two tenths of a mile in length with little elevation gain, Maritime Meander Trail leads visitors along a gently curving path through the southern edge of Peavy Arboretum. This hiker-only trail is named after the maritime pine, which is plentiful along the trail. Douglas-fir, the state tree of Oregon, can also be seen along this trail. Nut-bearing and fruit-bearing broadleaved trees including walnut, American chestnut, California hazel, and cherry are also prevalent in this part of the Arboretum. Interpretive information on walnut trees and tree identification posts with common and scientific names are also found along this trail. Be sure to keep an eye out for cherries in the early summer!
